In this webinar our guests are Reverend David Pileggi and Daniel Hummel, PhD. Rev. Pileggi is the rector of the Anglican Christ Church in Jerusalem’s Old Town. He has lived in Israel for 40 years, and is the leading authority on Rev. William Hechler, the Anglican priest who worked so closely and effectively with Theodor Herzl. Thus, Rev. Pileggi speaks here about the rise and development of Christian Zionism from the Reformation to Hechler. Pileggi also describes the nature of Anglican-Israeli relations in today’s world.
Daniel Hummel is an Evangelical Christian, a scholar based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the author of the recent book, Covenant Brothers: Evangelicals, Jews, and U.S.-Israeli Relations (2019). Beginning with the birth of the modern Jewish state in 1948, Hummel recounts for us the story of Christian and Jewish Zionists working together on behalf of ever closer US-Israeli relations. In his final remarks Hummel offers important insights on what must be pursued by Poland if it is to implement Israeli best practice in Poland’s own trans-Atlantic relations.
